Buying coins

You must be 18 or older to buy BCK Coins. Coins are a prepaid, limited license to send virtual gifts in the app. Each coin has a face value of $0.01 for pricing, but coins have no cash value to buyers, can't be sold, transferred or exchanged for money, and never expire. In the iPhone and Android apps, coins are sold through Apple or Google in-app purchase; on the website, through Stripe. Coins are added only after the payment provider confirms the payment.

Refunds

Coin purchases are non-refundable except where required by law or by Apple's or Google's refund policies. If a purchase is refunded or charged back, we remove the related coins. If those coins were already spent, we may reverse unpaid gifts sent with them, remove the creator's unpaid earnings from those gifts, and pause gifting or cash-out while we review.

Gifting

Gifting is voluntary and gives you nothing in return. Gifting unlocks after your wallet has been funded with at least the minimum shown in the app (currently 500 coins, $5.00). You can only send gifts with coins already in your wallet — there is no credit and balances never go negative. You can't gift yourself. Gifts are final once sent. We limit how fast gifts can be sent to protect members.

Creator payouts

Only verified creators can receive gifts. To become one you must be 18 or older, opt in, accept these terms and finish Stripe Connect identity and tax verification. Creators earn 60% of each gift's coin face value (for example, a 1,000-coin gift earns $6.00); The Broke College Kid keeps 40%, which also covers app store and payment fees. Earnings stay pending for 30 days for refunds and chargebacks, then become available. You can cash out available earnings of $25.00 or more to your Stripe account. Earnings from test purchases are never paid. Creators are responsible for their own taxes. We may withhold, reverse or suspend earnings for fraud, abuse, chargebacks or violations of our Terms.
